Omved Brahmi and Peppermint Purifying Shampoo Review

Hello buddies! :) I know many of my readers are wary of chemical ingredients in their skin/hair care products and always look for natural alternatives. For those, I am going to review a shampoo from a brand which believes in pure natural living. It is Omved Brahmi and Peppermint Purifying Shampoo.

PRICE:  Rs.640

QUANTITY: 200 ml

Sorry for the blur in the image. I am listing the ingredients here,

Purified water, decyl glucoside, sodium cocoyl glutamate, sodium cocoyl apple amino acid, hydrolyzed wheat & soy protein, tocopherol acetate (vit. E), extracts of aloe vera, brahmi, xantham gum, hibiscus & mandookparni, sodium benzoate, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, sodium benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, oils of lavender, grapefruit & peppermint.

  • Gentle plant-derived botanicals thoroughly cleanse without stripping or build-up
  • Brahmi strengthens follicles & peppermint invigorates circulation
  • Vit. E & aloe strengthen elasticity, making hair soft, strong and shiny
  • NO parabens, sulfates, silicones, petrochemicals, glycols, phthalates, synthetic colours or perfumes

MY EXPERIENCE: First let me give you some insight on the brand,
Omved products are steeped in Ayurvedic wisdom, are based on the same herbal compounds and botanicals used by the ancients to enhance their beauty and well-being. The products are enriched with significant quantities of 100% natural "active extracts" and achieve exceptional skin that reflects health, beauty and harmony. Omved formulations are all - paraben-free, sulfate-free, petrochemical-free, artificial dye-free and synthetic-free, completely free of any unnatural and toxic ingredient. No animal extracts or ingredients of animal origin are used either in processing or in the finished product, and never will be.

Now coming to today's review, Omved Brahmi and Peppermint Purifying Shampoo comes in a sturdy bottle with a pump dispenser. The shampoo is runny in texture and colorless. It has got a strong peppermint fragrance, and if you have been on this blog for long you must know how much crazy I am for peppermint. Though on hair it doesn't smell of mint(thankfully!) but a subtle sweet smell, which might be of brahmi or the grapefruit, IDK

It doesn't strip hair of moisture, makes hair soft and shiny, and since one week I have been using it, I am seeing comparatively less hair breakage (my hairfall got aggravated due to the season change and now it is much better), though it doesn't claim to stop hairfall or anything. Sadly, it doesn't lather much and I require almost double the quantity I use, to shampoo my hair properly, hence it would finish up fast and the price being so high, it definitely hurts the pocket. Also, I feel as it is so gentle, it doesn't clarify the scalp much. So it would suit fine hair/dry scalp better than thick hair/oily scalp. Since I lie in between this range, I am neither too impressed nor too unhappy about it.

  • A gentle shampoo that keep the moisture of the hair locked.
  • Makes hair soft and shiny.
  • Noticed less hair breakage.
  • Awesome peppermint smell, minus the cold sting.
  • Parabens and chemical free, and doesn't test on animals.
  • Effective and sturdy packaging.

  • Doesn't work on my frizz problem.
  • Doesn't clarify scalp.
  • Requires loads of shampoo to lather well.
  • The price.
  • Available only on selective websites and their own web store.

VERDICT: Those who follow and use natural, paraben free and chemical free ingredients, Omved has a lot to offer. If price isn't a factor for you, I would recommend this shampoo to all who have dry scalp, or thin/fine hair. It is gentle and effective and also curbs hair breakage to an extent. Hope my review helps. Let me know if you have tried this.

MY EXPERIENCE: I was just looking up the brands available on, and saw TBS, with a whopping 450+ products available in their range. Some makeup items, including stuff from the Lily Cole collection too, as well as different skincare products along with the regular shower gels and body butters.

I was so engrossed with that page that I hardly checked out the other categories. :P

Finally, I decided to get another shower gel from TBS, and Aroma Magic Almond Moisturising lotion that I wanted to try out as I have heard many good things about it.

Easy 3 step checkout process. As soon as I placed my order, I got an invoice in my email. I placed my order on 21st, in the evening. I forgot to mention my contact number in my account details, so I got a mail from their customer support next day to update the same. After I updated my account, I received a confirmation sms that my order is being processed.

On 24th, I got a call from their customer support, to let me know that the TBS Fuzzy Peach Shower gel which I ordered, was not in stock with their vendors, so I replaced it with the Strawberry one, (which I later realised is priced a little higher than the fuzzy peach one, and they didn't even charge me the excess..SWEET! :D). I was expecting my order to get more delayed, but surprise, surprise I got my package today afternoon. So even with all the delayed processing they delivered within 5 days of my placing the order. Commendable job and excellent customer support I must say.

And here is my haul,

It came in a normal brown cardboard box

The products were packed safely in bubblewraps. Here are the products,

I also received a discount code along with the products. Guess, they provide some gifts, for orders above Rs.500.

A few things which I didn't like and could be worked upon are, COD charges for orders below 500 is too much to ask IMO, quick updation of Out of Stock products, and a few of the products have misleading images, also grouping the same category of a product (like the different shades of makeup products) in one item instead of showing each of them separately, would make the site more user friendly.

I loved shopping from, easy to navigate website, huge array of brands and discounts, excellent customer service and prompt delivery.  All in all a very nice experience. Go and check them out now. I hope you too have a great time shopping there.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss – Shade Hooked On Pink Review

Being a lipgloss girl throughout my teens, I have taken a complete U-turn and started getting addicted to lipsticks nowadays. However, there are few glosses that you just cannot overlook. I have been a fan of Colorsensational range of lipsticks from Maybelline (reviews here & here), and I wanted to try out one gloss from this range, and Hooked On Pink being the cult favorite (I was yearning for a pink gloss too), I got this one to try out. But is it worth the hype?

PRICE:  Rs.260

QUANTITY: 6.8 ml

  • Sophisticated color and shine
  • Lips feel luxuriously soft and supple with nourishing honey nectar
  • Use the wand to apply lip gloss starting in the center of your upper lip.
  • Work from the center to outer edges of your lips, following the contour of your mouth. Follow the same technique for your bottom lip.
  • Available in 10 beautiful shades

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss comes in a compact transparent tube packaging, with a silver cap and doe foot applicator. The shade Hooked On Pink is a pretty pink shade with subtle golden shimmers, that are hardly visible on lips. The gloss is completely non-sticky and very moisturising. Even when it wears off, lips feel soft and nourished.

As it doesn't stick to lips, the staying power is not that great and it fades within 2 hours on me. It fades with light snacking, and doesn't leave any tint, but for the price I feel this is a pretty good lipgloss in terms of quality. Only thing I don't like at all, is that if I layer it for more color, it turns a bit gloopy and gathers at the edge of the lips. I guess this is because of the applicator wand, where the spongy head isn't much soft. To sum it up,

  • Creamy but light texture and very moisturising that keeps lips nourished even after it wears off.
  • Non sticky and have subtle shimmers, minus any grittiness.
  • Pretty, glossy, bright pink shade.
  • Has a subtle fruity smell that is hardly noticeable.
  • Hides pigmentation on lips to an extent.
  • Price doesn't hurt pocket much.
  • Nice and simple packaging.
  • Expiry date mentioned on the tube.

  • Turns a bit gloopy on layering.
  • Wears off in 2 hours and requires re-application.
  • Doesn't leave any tint, only shine due to the subtle glitters present.

VERDICT: This is great for those, who run away from glosses because of stickiness/shimmers, or couldn't brave lipstick colors much. This adds a pop of color and glossiness, and there are very less lipglosses of this quality at this price. For me, I like it, but not madly in love with it. ;) :P

Sunsilk Keratinology Advanced Reconstruction Program Detoxifying Shampoo Review

Hey ya beauties! Two weeks back I got the Sunsilk Keratinology Advanced Reconstruction Range to try out, basically the shampoo, the conditioner and the mask.

I have already reviewed the Sunsilk Keratinology Advanced Reconstruction Program Express Treatment Conditioner long back when it got launched.

You can also check my review on the Sunsilk Keratinology Heat Protector Spray, from this range, which I did a few days back.

Today I am going to review the Sunsilk Keratinology Advanced Reconstruction Program Detoxifying Shampoo for you guys.

PRICE:  Rs.200

Keratinology by Sunsilk Advanced Reconstruction Program Detoxifying Shampoo features a cleansing formula that works on salon-treated hair to gently remove residue.
The shampoo has been formulated with Keratin Micro Technology to prolong the look and feel of salon-like hair and to address the damage caused by bleaching, colouring, and heat styling.
The shampoo penetrates the hair fibre to help restore and retain moisture loss, while conditioning ingredients help to repair surface damage by sealing cuticles and locking in your colour for longer.

MY EXPERIENCE: I am loving it! :D In case you still want to read further, go ahead. ;)
Sunsilk Keratinology Advanced Reconstruction Program Detoxifying Shampoo comes in a slim, flip mouthed bottle, like the conditioner. The consistency of the shampoo is moderately thin but it lathers easily. It even washes off oil in one go. I also love the lovely, fruity/perfume-ish smell. I am using it for the past one and a half week regularly.

Coming to the results, it makes my hair feel soft, and very shiny. Also the hair ends look much healthier and it gives slight bouncy curls/waves. Only glitch, it doesn't work much on my frizz problem, and in this dry weather, they are getting more unmanageable :( *hmph*.
To summarise,

  • Moderately thin consistency, that lathers well.
  • Provides softness and shine and adds a little bounce to hair.
  • Washes off oil in one go even though it's of thin consitency.
  • Love the amazing smell.
  • Packaging is sturdy and effective but need to be packed carefully while travelling. It's better to tape the dispensing mouth to avoid any spill.

  • I wish it worked on my frizz problem.
  • The price is slightly high compared to other drugstore shampoos available in the market.

VERDICT: If you have, dry, rough, coarse hair, then I would suggest you to try out the Sunsilk Keratinology Advanced Reconstruction Range. So far I am loving all the products, and would soon review the mask from this range. Let me know if you have tried this and whether you liked it or not.

The Body Shop Love Etc...™ Body Wash Review

Hey ya beauties! This is just a quick review for the The Body Shop Love Etc...™ Body Wash, I told you about in one of my previous post.

PRICE:  Rs. 495

INGREDIENTS: Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (Surfactant), Cocamidopropyl Betaine (Surfactant), Cocamide DEA (Surfactant), Parfum (Fragrance), Polysorbate 20 (Emulsifier), Sodium Chloride (Viscosity Modifier), Mel (Natural Additive), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Coco-Glucoside (Surfactant), Glyceryl Oleate (Emulsifier), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Sunscreen), Benzyl Salicylate (Fragrance Ingredient), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate (Skin-Conditioning Agent - Emollient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant).

WHAT IT CLAIMS: This soap-free body wash leaves skin subtly scented with the irresistible Love Etc…™fragrance, a heart-stopping fusion of jasmine, vanilla and sandalwood notes.
  • Soap-free
  • Lather-rich
  • Love Etc…™ scent

MY EXPERIENCE: Well true to it's claims, it lathers really well with only a little amount and the Love Etc…™ scent is really amazing and you will love it if you like woody scents. But, it doesn't linger on me after bath.

It comes in a pink flip top cap white bottle, which is opaque unlike the other TBS body washes. One bottle lasts me a little more than a month easily even on everyday use. It is priced higher than the other body washes from TBS and the quantity is less too (why TBS! :( ), and I believe it comes in a set with a perfume from the same range, but I bought this individually from an online store, so not really sure.

You can read my full review on The Body Shop Moringa Shower Gel Review,  to know my overall experience for TBS body washes.

VERDICT:  For the fragrance it scored a little more than the previous TBS body wash I reviewed, else they are similar in every other aspect.

Pond's Gold Radiance Ultra Rich Day Cream Review

Hey ya buddies! :) Now that the festivities are almost over, what are you looking forward to? Ofcourse, the wedding season. :D Well, two of my friends are getting married this year (Ahhh! the pressure :P) and one of them is literally a "chaddi buddy" of mine (we are friends from Lower Nursery, and are soon going to celebrate silver jubilee of our friendship ;) :P ) and the other one is a college friend from my grad's days. Yay I am so excited and looking forward to these two events. :D

Now coming back to today's review, I am going to review the Pond's Gold Radiance Ultra Rich Day Cream from the Pond’s Gold Radiance Ultra Rich Range (launched a few months ago), specially made for dry skin.

PRICE:  Rs. 899

Pond’s Gold Radiance Ultra Rich Range    Dry skin is different and struggles more to look young. As dry skin ages, it suffers even more from dullness and dryness, and requires extra care. The new Pond’s Gold Radiance Ultra Rich range is designed especially for dry skin. Infused with real gold serum concentrate, this super rich formulation goes deep down to give ageing, dry cells the extra help they need to recapture the youthful radiance. As the ageing cells are revitalized, dry skin becomes younger looking, luminous and alive again.

This range includes:
1. Ultra Rich Night Capsules (40 capsules, 12ml) - Night treatment capsules designed to bring back your skin’s youthful radiance.
2. Ultra Rich Day Cream (50ml) - Day cream designed to nourish dry skin every day.
3. Ultra Rich Serum (30ml) - Night treatment to deeply nourish skin cells for faster results.

Since, this product is meant for dry skin/extra dry skin, I was quite excited to try this out. As it is ultra rich, so in humid weather it felt a little heavy on my dry-combi skin, but now that winter is here, my skin is loving it. Hence, I took so long to review this cream.

It comes in this heavy glass tub (like the Pond's White Beauty Daily Spot-less Lightening Cream), in golden color that looks really classy, and comes with small spoon to scoop out the product and maintain hygiene (brilliant idea Pond's :-* ). The cream is thick (yes, it's ultra rich) in texture but gets absorbed quickly and moisturises skin really well and I don't require any re-application, unless I wash my face. The gold particles present in the cream gives an instant luminous effect and my face looks brighter, but if used in excess it gives a whitish cast for a while, till it gets totally absorbed.

I blended a little of the cream on my hand. Can you see the shimmers on my hand swatch?

I don't know whether the gold particles are real or not (since gold prices are going up everyday ;) ), they look like golden shimmer to me that gives a radiant, luminosity to my face, which looks good from a distance and also pictures well, but are quite discernible on close inspection, and that doesn't make it a suitable day cream for everyone, esp. for office-goers. The mild fragrance is quite similar to other Pond's ranges. On prolonged use, I didn't see much changes, but then I haven't tried all the other products from this range, and also I don't have much aged skin to see any stark difference. On the positive side, it didn't cause any breakouts even though it is so rich in texture, and my skin does look a bit more radiant now.

  • Ultra rich cream specially meant for dry skin.
  • Moisturises skin really well and doesn't require re-application even in this dry weather, unless I wash my face.
  • The micro golden shimmers provides instant radiance and adds a luminosity to face.
  • Didn't cause any breakouts or skin irritation.
  • Beautiful and classy packaging and comes with a small spoon to maintain hygiene.

  • The price of this range is really high and you need to use all the other products in tandem to see any visible changes and long lasting effect.
  • The golden shimmers are quite noticeable from close distance.

VERDICT: If price isn't a factor, then this range would work great on dull, dry skin, but the golden shimmers/particles could be a little bothersome during daytime.
